l'Americano- the American

An image of Frank and Providenza Crisanti upon their return to Italy in 1931.

While Frank Crisanti continued his work for the family produce business in Pittsburgh, Providenza completed her education in Italy and was in search of her first teaching position.  With the parameters of her search restricted (by her mother) to Termini Imerese, Providenza found it difficult to find a vacant teaching position.  In the meantime, Providenza met a fellow teacher from Termini Imerese.  In the years preceding Frank Crisanti's return to Termini Imerese, Providenza was engaged to this fellow teacher.  Fortuitously however, class differences between the two families led to the dissolution of the engagement.  Listen as Providenza Crisanti relates how her future husband heard of the broken engagement and what ensued afterwards.
