Learn More

This website provides little more than a glimpse into the fascinating lives and experiences of the Italian Americans who have graciously deposited their memories with the Italian American Collection at the Senator John Heinz History Center.  As envisioned, the "Ricordi Catturati- Captured Memories" exhibit serves as a preliminary means through which to disseminate these stories concerning the Italian American experience to the public.

To date, the Italian American Collection of the Senator John Heinz History Center contains over 300 oral histories that record the experiences of Italian Americans across Western Pennsylvania.   As demonstrated in this exhibit, a number of these oral histories are further enhanced by supporting images and material culture that directly correlate to the content of the oral history interviews.

To learn more about the oral histories featured in this exhibit, as well as other oral histories included in the Italian American Collection, consider planning a visit to the Senator John Heinz History Center Library & Archives.
